Docomomo-US Modernism in America Award

Hill College House received a Docomomo-US Modernism in America Award June 20, 2018 in New York. Awards celebrate the documentation, preservation, and re-use of modern buildings, structures, and landscapes built in the U.S. or its territories. Awards recognize those building owners, design teams, advocacy and preservation organizations that have made significant efforts to retain, restore, and advocate for the aesthetic and cultural value of such places.

One of only 13 projects honored this year, Hill was described by the jury as follows:

“This project highlights the commitment to restore a beautiful but overlooked campus structure and honors the lasting values found in modern architecture. The work accomplished by the design team not only respects the original vision, but also addresses the needs of students today, improving functionality and gaining a NERD certification – Saarinen for the 21st century.”
