Saul Ewing

After 35 years in one place, the Saul Ewing law firm wanted its office to mirror the transformation of its brand. In 2009, management invited us to reinforce their collaborative and collegial culture through design, while adhering to a strict budget.

Our challenge was to modernize the space while honoring the heritage of senior staff and making it easier to recruit clever young lawyers. To the dark wood-paneled, traditional law office aesthetic, we added brightness, opening up interior spaces. A grand staircase now connects all four floors.

We convinced the law firm partners to move the lunchroom to a perimeter space. This allows natural light into the space and allows the firm to use the area as both a lunchroom and a meeting space.
